THE HISTORY OF THE LUZHNIKI STADIUM: FROM THE SETTLEMENT TO THE ARENA

Abstract

The article examines the history of the territory of the Moscow settlement, which was called “Luzhniki”. The article analyzes versions of the name of this area. The author in his article touches on the history of the Novodevichy Convent ensemble. The article examines the process of settling the territory of Luzhniki, how the appearance of Luzhniki has changed over several centuries. The natural features of the Luzhniki territory are analyzed in detail. The article examines the history of the construction of the main sports arena of the Soviet state. The author analyzes the social conditionality of the creation of this unique sports complex, which has become one of the main symbols of the city.
