Abstract

The special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, completely unexpected for the residents of Belarus, stunned political circles, causing an ambiguous reaction in public opinion. Official Minsk has solidified with Moscow, and the society has demonstrated a split on another occasion.
The article examines the attitude of the parties and public associations of Belarus to the SVO. The author comes to the conclusion that the majority of Belarusian citizens oppose the participation of the Belarusian army in military operations in Ukraine. Various measurements of public opinion in Belarus in relation to the SVO at the end of the year show some growth in support of Moscow’s policy. However, this support has no significant practical way out, because there are no active pro-Russian forces.
