Abstract
In the article, the author examines the methodological foundations of the study of the electoral process in Russia. The author identifies two key approaches of scientific discourse (legal and political) and considers them in a comparative characteristic. The analysis of the concepts presented in the scientific discourse allows the author to conclude that the problem of finding methodological foundations for studying the electoral process is relevant for both political and legal science and becomes key to understanding the transformational changes in the electoral process in Russia at the present stage.
