THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN POLITICAL COMMUNICATION

Abstract

The article examines the problems of the relationship between political processes and social media, examines the technologies of political communication in the Internet space, as well as various forms of political participation of citizens through Internet technologies. The main approaches to assessing the role of social media in politics are outlined, and the main trends in the development of this sphere in the political space are highlighted. The essence and prospects of crowdsourcing as a form of implementation of electronic democracy are revealed.
