В статье рассматривается нравственная позиция широко известной в своё время русской писательницы и поэтессы Каролины Павловой относительно русско-польских отношений, сложившихся после третьего раздела Польши и Венского конгресса. Определённое влияние на мировосприятие поэтессы оказало свободное владение ею почти всеми европейскими языками, а также романтические отношения с опальным польским поэтом Адамом Мицкевичем. Однако отмечается самостоятельность воззрений Павловой на политическую ситуацию 30–90-х гг. XIX в. В противостоянии западников и славянофилов Павлова предпочла остаться над схваткой, не разделяя ни патологического отрицания достижений Запада, ни низкопоклонства перед ним. Она сформировала собственный взгляд на «польский вопрос» – понимание исторической драмы Польши. Во времена политических крайностей поэтесса заняла взвешенную евразийскую позицию, что могло её сделать, но по ряду обстоятельств не сделало арбитром в нескончаемом споре противостоящих литературных группировок.
Russian writer and poetess Karolina Pavlova’s moral position regarding the Russian-Polish relations that developed after the third partition of Poland and the Congress of Vienna is presented in the article. Her fluency in almost all European languages, as well as her romantic relationship with the disgraced Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz, had a certain influence on the poetess’ perception of the world. However, the independence of Pavlova’s views on the political situation of the 30-90s of the XIX century is noted. In the confrontation between Westerners and Slavophiles, Pavlova preferred to stay above the fray, not sharing either the pathological denial of the achievements of the West or the worship of it. She formed her own view on the “Polish question”: understanding the historical drama of Poland. In times of political extremes, the poetess took a balanced Eurasian position, which could have made her, but for a number of circumstances did not, an arbiter in an endless dispute between opposing literary groups.
